Lifeguard

Position Summary:

As a lifeguard at Gibsonville Swim Club, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons in and around the pool area. In addition to maintaining a vigilant watch over swimmers to prevent accidents and injuries, you will also play a key role in ensuring that the facilities are clean, well-maintained, and set up for safe use.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

- Monitor pool activities and enforce safety rules to prevent accidents.
- Provide surveillance of the pool area and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
- Administer first aid and CPR as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pool environment, including regular cleaning and sanitization of pool decks, restrooms, and other facilities.
- Set up and arrange pool furniture, umbrellas, and other equipment to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patrons.
- Conduct routine inspections of pool equipment and facilities to identify and address any maintenance or safety issues.
- Communicate effectively with patrons and fellow staff members to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
- Attend and participate in regular training sessions to maintain and improve lifeguarding skills.

Qualifications:

- Current lifeguard certification from a recognized training organization.
- Current certification in CPR and first aid.
- Strong swimming skills and physical fitness.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Working Conditions:

- Lifeguards may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to sun and heat.
- The position may require standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.

Physical Requirements:

- Lifeguards must be able to swim long distances and perform rescue techniques.
- Physical strength and agility are necessary to perform lifting and rescue maneuvers.
